Hi Tink,
Thank you for raising this issue and sharing that quote.  You are absolutely right.  It is important for all of us to be mindful of the fact that we cannot just stop the behaviour.  We have to change our lifestyle and routines, too.  That is one of the keys to keeping our quit. 
I also think it's important not to get complacent.  You never know when you might encounter an unexpected trigger.  You may even be left wondering what triggered you in the first place.  I know that that has happened to me.  One minute I was fine, and the next, the thought crossed my mind, I could go for a cigarette right about now.  Thoughts like that bewilder me, because I don't know why they just pop into my head.  But because I am mindful that I will always be vulnerable to my addiction, I am able to deal with these thoughts head on and thus, maintain my quit.
I am constantly amazed by how complex and deep-rooted our addiction to smoking is.  No wonder there are so many moving parts to a successful quit.

You are absolutely right tinkerbelle2, quitting smoking is a total lifestyle change. In order to stay smoke free, you must also work on changing your habits. I like to think of quitting smoking as dealing with 2 sides of a coin (one is the addiction and the other is habits/lifestyle) and working on both is the way to go!

Looking forward to hearing other thoughts on this! As we know, change doesn't come easy.....

When people quit many just stop and say there I have stopped as if my some miracle they will never smoke again.  They think that is all they have to do. They then find out there is so much more to it than that. Many will go back to smoking as they find that quitting becomes an inconvenience to their lifestyle. One cannot quit successfully if they are not willing to change the life and the chances of success goes down.  The below says it all.
