Every time I stepped down I seemed to be nervous about it.  I had extra lozenges or more refills for my inhaler but I found as long as I didnt think about the patch (Oh no I am on step 2's now instead of step 1's) and focused more on something else I was fine.  Keep busy keep your gum and lozenges handy and you will do great.

Hi Doyle - When I went from Step 1 to Step 2 I found the first 2 days somewhat "uncomfortable", for lack of a better term. I think what helped me was keeping some Step 1's in reserve just in case. Didn't have to revert back to them but think it was like a safety net for me. Head games!!!! Hang in there Doyle. You will do fine. We got this!

Hi Doyle,

One of the best thing you can do to help the transition to step 2 of the patch is preparing yourself, and you are doing exactly that. You're the expert and you know yourself best, so keep up the great work!
Planning ahead for that day, keeping busy and having a back up plan for any unexpected cravings with the gum or lozenges are excellent strategies.

You might also want to take the time to reflect back on when you started using step 1 of the patch and how you went about it. How did you adjust to that transition? What did you find most helpful?

Have a wonderful day!

Valerie

I am trying to prepare and pump myself up for changing to Step 2 of the patch.  I have gum and lozenges if I need them, but mostly I will try to entertain myself and keep busy.  If anyone has suggestions to ease the transition - that would be appreciated.  I know cutting cold turkey can sometimes be best as all the nicotine leaves your body, but I am not capable of doing that.  For now, I am smoke free and feeling better each day.  I go to step 2 in 2 days...
