Hi lithan44,

I can really relate to this quote.  When I made the decision to quit smoking, I was persistent in my efforts, and did not give up despite all of the obstacles.

Even though it has been over six months, yesterday I got some severe physical cravings.  I would rate them an 8 out of 10.  They took me off guard as they came out of the blue, and they were powerful.  In order to stay on course, I went back to the basics, doing what I did at the beginning of my quit.  I thought of all of the reasons why I wanted to quit, and everything I have gone through to get to this point.  I thought of all of the benefits I have experienced since quitting.  Then I came onto this site and read all of the recent posts.  I mentally re-committed myself to all of my friends here on this site, and told myself I would remain accountable to everyone here.  And then I did things to distract myself.

And lo and behold, being consistent worked.  I made it through those bad cravings and came out on top. Whew!

I think that everyone who quits smoking and stays quit should be really proud of themselves.  This is one heck of a roller coaster ride.
