Hello Doyle,

Not sure if you have seen Lillian's message about the new site- it is located at: smokershelpline.ca.  We advise you to save any personal profile details (in your profile- how many cigarettes smoked daily, quit date, etc) as this information won't transfer to the new site.  Likewise, copy any posts or information that is meaningful to you.

Looking forward to connecting in the new site!

Marianne

We have a choice ... #1. give it a chance .. #2. find another site ... i'm going with #1. .. although I haven't been coming here often it is just comforting to know that it is here when and if I should need it and with all you good people I consider my friends!! .. have a wonderful smoke free day!! Hey everybody!!!

Don't get all depressed about the new makeover just yet!
It's still BRAND NEW - and I'm sure they've got a TON of work ahead of them before initial issues / concerns are ironed-out.

This forum has had a HUGE impact on my quit success, and it wasn't the SITE...It was all because of you members and staff that made it possible!!!

Take a few minutes, and fill out your new member application, quit date, etc. on the new site:
...And I look forward to seeing you all over there!!!

Remember that THIS site went through tons of issues over the years, and it took some time before it got where it is... I'm sure the new site just needs some time and adjustments too!!

The most important thing is to KEEP YOUR QUIT!!
A support forum is great - but it's only as strong as it's members and staff!

Hope to see you all at the new spot,

Your QUIT buddy, Jim

Hello MotherJoe, Doyle, MudMan, Kishu, Nalabean, Fireball and Others,

We Quit Coaches and the Support Team here at Smokers' Helpline understand there can be bumps in the road with transitions.  And sincerely feel your frustration with navigating and locating/operating features on the new site. Re: login/access, there are some differences when done so directly on the site vs through Social Media (i.e. Facebook).

We truly value you members and the community you have built together so we want to make this move as smooth as possible for you.  So please let us know by emailing to smokershelpline@ontario.cancer.ca   about your specific concerns so we can work one-on-one with you to resolve quicker.

As Quit Coaches, we are encouraging you all to start building the new site together, creating it as your own.  You each have wonderfully contributed and can continue to do so.

We are looking forward to what opportunities this new site will provide.  Maintaining the focus on the positive support through daily pledges, quotes and discussions.

Sincerely,

Marianne

Hey guys,

I'm still here so let's chat.

There were a lot of reasons for moving to a new platform - some I can get into, others I can't.

One key thing I want to bring up is that this was a ground-up build with a huge amount of custom work to enable the new quit plan. The current site contains a lot of intellectual property that we at Smokers' Helpline do not own, so we were largely starting from scratch.

Another is that this is just our first release. There will be more features brought forward in the next releases and we will continue to improve upon the system. I am working right now to put up a new forum to discuss suggestions and tech issues, and I hope you will all put your passion to work with us to ensure we bring new and exciting features to the table and try to improve the ones we have.

If you are having difficulties even getting in, please feel free to e-mail me directly at kmckeown@ontario.cancer.ca and I'll work with you, or connect with smokershelpline@ontario.cancer.ca if you'd prefer.

I'll keep checking in if you have further questions or comments, and I'll let you know when the new forum is up so we can move our discussion there.

I managed to get into the site but was not impressed either.  I think once this site gets closed down I'll be gone too.  I would say the responses from everyone on the old site would be a good focus group for SHO.  I'm wondering if they used any current members to do a focus group for the new site?  If not it might have been a good idea.

Hi its Mud Man here. You know where you can stick your new website. I am very angry and disappointed with this change. I tried using it and nothing works and I get nothing but false statistics and no quit meter. If this is the way it's got to be well, "Good Bye All".

Why Can't You People Leave A GOOD THING ALONE!

Well thank you Kyle for helping me get logged into new website. Had to log in threw Facebook and not sure if my Facebook account is displaying the smokerhelpline posts. What a nightmare to try and navigate the new site. Can’t find quit metre or anything. Saw some old posts with no reply’s for weeks. Made a couple comments and got disgruntled reply’s from quitter’s. This will be the end of online program if the close this site and force people to the new site. Oh well keep the quit no matter what 😉

Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,640
