Hi ButterfliDreamz,
Very glad to hear you decided to go to the doctors to get this checked out. Seeing your family doctor if these symptoms continue is probably a good idea as well. Good for you for being on top of this.
Very scarey symptoms! Glad to hear that it is motivating you to stay quit thought. Your family doctor will be very happy to hear this.

Hi Butterfly. Good for you. I had the exact same thing happen to me last fall, so I stopped smoking using the Allen Carr book, which worked great for me. I could not imagine how it would feel for my doctor to tell me I had lung cancer knowing I could have prevented it. Over the past few weeks I have felt like smoking again but last weekend I went to visit my uncle who is dying of lung cancer and it re-affirmed my commitment to to stay stopped. It is a reality. Good luck.

I'm sure everyone has heard that, if not said it. I've had a scare that will keep me going. Beginning of the month I got a cold, it hit me bad and went straight to my lungs. I didn't go to the doctor because I hate that question "Do you smoke?" So I suffered through it. I was sure I had pneumonia, still didn't go to the doctor, figured toughing out the cold was easier than facing that question. Then, last saturday, I was mowing the lawn, and I literally couldn't catch my breath. Stupid huh?? My parents talked me into going into Emergency. The whole time I was scared, not about being there but about hearing that question. I was scared that the doctor was going to do an X-ray and find the C word. We all know the initial symptoms for smokers cancer, shortness of breath, pain in chest or back, dry unexplainable cough. The doctor said he didn't hear anything in my lungs and didn't think an X-ray was going to tell him anything. That's it!! I'm done smoking. That was so fricking scary. I'm not saying I got off scott free, who knows why I still can't catch my breath, or why it hurts to breathe, but I'm not going to give my lungs another chance to get sick. And I know, I'll have to go into my family doctor, but I will be able to say that I quit smoking, and hopefully it's not too late.
